‘Told Tottenham yesterday’ – Sky reporter delivers update on Ilaix Moriba talks

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba appears to have hit a brick wall.

Sky Sport Germany reporter Max Bielefeld has taken to Twitter this morning to claim that Moriba’s representatives informed Tottenham yesterday that they have decided that the player will instead be joining RB Leipzig for a fee in the region of €20m (£17.1m).

The Bundesliga outfit have targeted Moriba as a replacement for Marcel Sabitzer, who appears to be on his way to champions Bayern Munich.

Sky Sports reported yesterday that a Spanish source had informed them that an agreement with Tottenham was close and personal terms would not be an issue.

Tottenham managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, was in Barcelona to personally convince Moriba to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to Mundo Deportivo.
