‘Told you guys’ – Ferdinand servers reminder about reported Spurs target

Rio Ferdinand has reminded everybody that he predicted the rise of Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey amidst speculation over the defender’s future.

Godfrey, who has been deployed at both centre back and as a defensive midfielder by manager Daniel Farke has been one of the Canaries standout performers this campaign (the Express).

Spurs have reportedly watched the 22-year-old on several occasions this season and have been left impressed with his displays.

Recent reports claimed that Tottenham were looking at a £25m deal for the defender (Football Insider), however, The Athletic have now reported Norwich want a whopping £50m for their man.

The defender was outstanding in the FA Cup tie against the Lilywhites on Wednesday with his brilliant defensive performance helping the away side to force a penalty shootout, which they eventually prevailed in.

Ferdinand took to social media after Godfrey’s performance on Wednesday to remind everyone that he picked the youngster as the best up and coming player in the Premier League a couple of months ago.

Spurs Web Opinion

Norwich have several young players who can be terrific additions for us in the summer if they go down. While the likes of Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell have shown glimpses of some real talent, it is Godfrey who looks like he is the furthest along in his development. Given our problems in defence as well as in holding midfield, I believe he can potentially be a fantastic addition for us.
