‘Too early’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals Conte’s wish regarding Harry Kane contract

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Antonio Conte wants Harry Kane to commit his future to Tottenham Hotspur and be the ‘star’ of his project in North London.

On Saturday, Kane served a reminder to everyone with his performance against Manchester City that he remains one of the best, if not the best, centre-forward in world football.

Therefore, one can certainly understand why the striker reportedly wants assurances that Tottenham will back Antonio Conte in the transfer market before committing his future to the club (The Sun).

The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed on Monday that the England captain had already rejected one contract offer from Spurs following his failed move to City in the summer.

It was explained that the striker is yet to make a decision on his future and, should he want to leave in the summer and Daniel Levy refuses to let him go, he would consider running his contract down and leaving as a free agent in 2024.

Romano has now revealed that Kane is happy to work under Conte and the Tottenham head coach wants the striker to be the main star of his project.

However, the journalist revealed that the 28-year-old will not decide his future until the end of March.

No matter how much Kane is enjoying working with Conte, it makes sense that the striker would not want to rush into a decision regarding his future after the events of last summer. I do not think there is any chance that the 28-year-old will put pen to paper on a new contract if we do not get back into the Champions League.
