“Big future ahead” – Some Spurs fans rave about 17-year-old’s brilliant performance

Tottenham’s Under-19s romped to a 9-2 victory against Red Star Belgarde at Hotspur Way in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon. Ryan Mason’s team needed a big performance after making a less than ideal start to the tournament having drawn and lost their opening two fixtures.

His side more than delivered as the youngsters played some stunning football and were ruthless in front of goal. Troy Parrott unsurprisingly got in the act with four goals in the match.

The quartet of goals displayed the 17-year-old’s versatility as a finisher and once again showed why he is so highly regarded at the club. Parrott has been named on the bench on several occasions by Mauricio Pochettino and even started the Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester United, which was his first taste of competitive senior football.

Some Spurs fans couldn’t help but rave about the Irish wonder kid with many of them wanting him to have another run out in Mauricio Pochettino’s first team. Here’s how supporters on social media reacted to the team’s and Parrott’s performance:

While the excitement around Parrott is understandable, we have seen many great talents fail to make the grade before. However, the Irishman seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Regardless, we as fans shouldn’t be expecting anything of him for at least a couple more years. He needs to be integrated slowly into the first team.
