Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon has told Amazon Prime Video Sport that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the best player he has come up against so far in the Premier League.
Reguilon has had just one season of football in the Premier League, but has little doubt in his mind of who he believes is the best player he has faced so far.
The 24-year-old Spaniard becomes the second Spurs player to praise the Belgian’s style of play of late after Harry Kane did so back in May.
Kane was asked by Gary Neville who he would most like to play alongside in the world, to which the Spurs striker replied: “Oh, Kevin De Bruyne for sure.
“When I watch De Bruyne play, he’s a special, special player and some of the balls I see him put in for City are just a striker’s dream if I’m honest. He’s outstanding, an outstanding player with the ball, off the ball, pressing. But his delivery is as good as I’ve ever seen.”
De Bruyne has established himself as one of the most complete midfielders in Europe and has demonstrated that label in recent campaigns.
Last season, he tallied six goals and 12 assists in 23 league starts as City romped to the Premier League title. That came off the back of his most fruitful campaign to date in 2019/20, where he scored 13 goals and hit the 20 assist mark.
Reguilon told Amazon Prime Video Sport: “I think Kevin De Bruyne. Too intelligent. He is a very good player, obviously.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Most players around the Premier League would tend to sway towards De Bruyne when naming the most difficult opponent they’ve come up against. He has staked his claim on so many occasions for City over recent years. As such, it isn’t much of a surprise to see the likes of Reguilon and Kane show their praise of one of the best midfielders in the world.
