‘Too much firepower’ – Chris Sutton predicts score for Tottenham vs Wolves

Chris Sutton believes Tottenham will have too much firepower for Wolves on Saturday but admitted he is interested to see whether Richarlison gets his first start for the North London club.

Despite Tottenham coming from a goal down on two occasions to salvage a draw at Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte will want to see a better performance from his side when they return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

The Italian has stuck with the same starting eleven for the first two matches of the season, with none of the club’s six new signings making the cut.

However, the likes of Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Ivan Perisic had a positive impact on the London derby after coming on in the second half and will be hoping they have done enough to force themselves into Conte’s thoughts.

Wolves are still looking for the first win of the season but Bruno Lage’s men will take confidence from the fact that they beat the Lilywhites 2-0 in the same fixture last season.

When asked to predict the result of the clash, Sutton told BBC Sport: “I was a bit disappointed with Tottenham’s performance against Chelsea last weekend.

“Spurs showed good character to come back and get a draw, but that result was more to do with poor refereeing decisions and luck as far as I could see.

“Wolves have signed Portugal forward Goncalo Guedes from Valencia to try to increase their goal threat, but he couldn’t make much difference when he came on against Fulham last week.

“Bruno Lage’s side’s biggest issue last year was they didn’t score enough goals, despite having some very talented players.

“Tottenham clearly don’t have that problem. It will be interesting to see if Antonio Conte starts with Richarlison this time, but either way, they will have too much firepower for Wolves to handle. Prediction: 3-1.”

I do not see either Richarlison or Bissouma coming into the starting lineup for this clash but I would not be surprised if one or either of Perisic and Doherty replaced Sessegnon and Emerson respectively.

It will also be interesting to see who plays instead of Romero. While Sanchez will be the like-for-like change, another option is to move Dier to right centre-back and play Clement Lenglet as the sweeper.
