‘Top notch’ – Spurs’ Destiny Udogie gets high praise for performance on Sunday

TuttoMercatoWeb have lavished praise on Destiny Udogie for his performance in Udinese’s 3-1 win over AC Milan on Sunday.

Tottenham paid £20m to snap up Udogie from Udinese last summer on the back of his breakthrough season in the Serie A and loaned the youngster back to Andrea Sottil’s side (Athletic).

The transfer has turned out to be an inspired move from the North London club as the 20-year-old has gone from strength-to-strenth this season and been one of the standout wing-backs in the Serie A.

The youngster would perhaps have been disappointed at missing out on Italy’s squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers.

However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last month that there is plenty of excitement at Spurs regarding the impact that the left wing-back could have at N17 next season.

Udogie played all 90 minutes on Sunday as Udinese overcame the Rossoneri 3-1 at the Dacia Arena and it appears that the on-loan Tottenham man posed Stefano Pioli’s side plenty of problems.

TMW gave the left wing-back a rating of 7/10 and wrote about his performance: “He starts by picking up the pace in the left-handed lane, when he sinks the Rossoneri go into total confusion. Only the goal is missing, but the performance is top-notch.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do wonder how Conte’s departure would affect Udogie’s prospects at Spurs as the 20-year-old is clearly better suited to playing as a wing-back rather than a full-back.

Given the current make-up of the Tottenham squad, Paratici might well be leaning towards appointing another manager who plays three at the back.
