‘Very proud’ – Spurs legend singles out one player for praise after win over Chelsea

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has singled out Tanguy Ndombele for praise for his performance in Spurs’ Carabao Cup win over Chelsea.

Ndombele completed all ninety minutes in the match, the second time he has done so within a week after completing Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Shkendija last Thursday.

The midfielder put in a terrific display as he helped the Lilywhites control proceedings in the second half, with his influence on the game increasing as the game wore on.

It is a far cry from last season when he struggled to complete 90 minutes, often being withdrawn around the hour mark or being used as a second-half substitute.

The 23-year-old now seems to have won Jose Mourinho’s trust, with the Spurs boss’ warm embrace of the midfielder after the win on Tuesday serving as further evidence that the pair have put their disagreements behind them.

Roberts took to social media after Spurs beat Chelsea on penalties to praise Ndombele and claimed that he is on his way to becoming a top player for the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ndombele’s talent has never really been in question from day one. It was always about whether he can build his fitness and if he was ready to fight to salvage his Spurs career. It certainly looks as if he has turned a corner and he could go on to be an extremely important player for us, not just this season but for years to come.
