Top-six Premier League striker claims Tottenham are an ‘unbelievable club’

Michail Antonio believes that Antonio Conte could stick around at Tottenham until the end of the season while Callum Wilson has suggested that the Italian might even have a future at the ‘unbelievable’ North London club beyond the summer.

The writing looks on the wall for Conte at Tottenham, with The Daily Mail reporting last week that Fabio Paratici has already begun the task of looking for the Italian’s replacement.

However, the report added that Spurs do not have any immediate plans to sack the 53-year-old and he is expected to remain in charge until the end of the season.

This strategy was questioned by Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club earlier this week, with the pundit suggesting that it would benefit all parties to part ways immediately.

Antonio disagreed with that assessment, suggesting that the Tottenham head coach should see out the remainder of his contract.

He said on The Footballer’s Football Podcast about Conte: “He still needs to do a job. He’s been away with illness and has not really been around the push the team himself.

“He might get into the top four again and I feel he should finish the season off.

“You can’t really say someone’s not committed because they haven’t signed the contract yet – there might be reasons behind why and it might be because of his illness.

“If the club aren’t happy, they have to make the decision.”

His co-host Wilson responded: “He’s an elite manager. Similar to players, unless the club are offering you something you cannot refuse, you probably wouldn’t commit straight away.

“He’s still under contract and has an obligation to be the manager. If they do end up in the Champions League, next season becomes a better test and he can build on his squad.

“It’s an unbelievable club.”

Unless a top-four finish looks to be in jeopardy, it is clear that Levy is not going to pull the trigger until the summer.

However, it looks fairly certain that all parties are going to go their separate ways at the end of the season even if Tottenham manage to qualify for the Champions League once again.
