‘Totally involved with this project’ – Conte opens up on Harry Kane’s happiness at Spurs

Antonio Conte has insisted Harry Kane is happy and totally involved in the current project at Tottenham, adding that the striker can see the club is heading in the right direction.

This comes after Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed recently that Spurs have no intentions of selling their star striker, while Kane himself is open to discussions over a potential new contract.

Spurs got off to a winning start to the Premier League season yesterday with a 4-1 victory over Southampton, and while Kane was not on the scoresheet, he showcased some expert centre-forward play.

He certainly seemed happy to be back on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium turf when he took to Twitter to react to the result.

Conte also spoke about the need for ambition at Tottenham if they are to achieve ‘something important’ in North London, which will surely be music to Harry Kane’s ears.

Conte said (Football London): “Harry, I see him very happy, totally involved with this project, in this process with the team and with the club.

“This is very important because you know very well the importance of this player for the teammates, for the fans, for the club, for me and for my staff.

“I like to see him in this way with this desire, this will to work strongly. I think he is the first player that is understanding that we are going in the right way. Then for sure, I would like in this season to have the best satisfaction with my players.

“I think that we needed to be ambitious because ambition is important if this ambition is positive, not presumptuous or arrogant. This ambition has to bring us to give 120 per cent of our capacity.

“The will and desire to improve ourselves, and to try to do something important for the club, for ourselves, for the fans, but for me the best target this season will be to be better than the last season. If we do this, I think we can be competitive until the end.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Harry Kane looks over the moon with the current project at Spurs. He has a world-class manager, is surrounded by world-class talent, and the club is finally injecting money into the squad. I wouldn’t be surprised if a new contract was signed in the next six months.
