Lankshear shines in record-breaking display

The young Spurs side now progress to the quarter-finals of the knockout tournament, but the main focus of the day was striker Will Lankshear, who bagged an impressive first-half hattrick.

As per the club’s website, Lankshear’s goals in the 28th, 33rd, and 39th minute mark the “fastest hat-trick to be scored at our N17 home since the venue opened in 2019.”

Lankshear’s goals were sandwiched between efforts from Dane Scarlett, Nile John, and Yago Santiago, but it was Jamie Donley who comes closest to stealing the limelight from the goalscorers.

The academy graduate who has been part of the first team squad this season registered four assists today, including all three for Lankshear, in a performance that will give Ange Postecoglou plenty to think about.

On the win, Under-21 coach Wayne Burnett, said: “I’m really pleased. Some of our football was very good, I thought we were excellent, scored very good goals, and it was a very much deserved win. We spoke about coming here to our wonderful stadium, being able to showcase our abilities and we’ve done that.

“I was pleased at the way in which we played but I was pleased about our work ethic and our application as well. For the fans here today, when you come and see the goals they’ve seen… hopefully they’ve gone away pleased and have seen that we’ve got some young players coming through who they should be proud of.”
