Tottenham accidentally ‘troll’ themselves by tweeting image then deleting

Tottenham appear to have accidentally trolled themselves on social media by tweeting a picture of a water bottle with the Champions League logo.

Spurs kickstart their Champions League campaign with a clash against Marseille this evening and Antonio Conte will be hoping to get three points on the board.

However, ahead of their return to the tournament, the Lilywhites seemed to have scored an own goal away from the pitch.

Due to Tottenham’s tendency to fall at the final hurdle and their inability to get over the line and win silverware, the North London club have often been accused of being ‘bottlers’ by opposition fans.

So When Spurs posted a photo of a bottle on social media, needless to say, many jumped on it and reminded the club of ‘bottling’ the Champions League final against Liverpool back in 2019.

According to Goal.com, Tottenham quickly took the tweet down and replaced it with a photo of Harry Kane in training instead.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham ‘bottling’ matches is one of the most unfounded memes or narratives going around in football. I do not know how any club can ‘bottle’ a final in which they never had the lead. By that logic, the likes of Liverpool and Man City have also ‘bottled’ finals over the last couple of years.
