Tottenham add recently-sacked Italian manager to summer shortlist

A fresh report from Italy suggests that a new name has now been added to Tottenham’s managerial shortlist, with a recently sacked Italian manager now one of the leading contenders to replace Ange Postecoglou in N17.

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Andoni Iraola is Tottenham’s top managerial target ahead of the summer.

However, the Lilywhites are also thought to be considering other alternatives if they are unable to attract the Bournemouth boss, with various sources claiming that Marco Silva and Thomas Frank are also on Spurs’ shortlist.

A fresh update has now claimed that Tottenham are now eyeing a move for a young manager who was sacked recently by a European giant.

Thiago Motta shoots up Tottenham’s managerial shortlist

A new report in Tuttosport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now confirmed that Iraola is indeed Tottenham’s top choice to take over from Postecoglou.

However, interestingly, the outlet says that the second name on the North London club’s wishlist is Thiago Motta, who was asked by Juventus last month.

It is explained that since Spurs expect a lot of competition from top clubs for Iraola, Motta has moved up their wishlist since parting ways with the Bianconeri.

The report adds that the 42-year-old has already been contacted by a few clubs, with Atalanta also said to be admirers of the former PSG centre-back.

Another Italian manager is also on Tottenham’s shortlist

Motta is not the only Italian manager who is being eyed by Spurs, with various reports over the last month stating that the club also monitoring another experienced Serie A boss.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham are considering making a move for Simone Inzaghi, whose future at Inter Milan is said to be in doubt.

In fact, one publication even claimed that Spurs are preparing a lucrative contract to prise Inzaghi away from the San Siro at the end of this campaign.
