Report: Spurs ahead in race for 12-goal midfielder – ‘Would be ready’ to satisfy club’s demands

Tottenham Hotspur are still in the race for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Icelandic international cost Genoa less than €5million (£4.2m) and scored eight goals in 19 games in his first year in Serie A.

Gudmundsson has built on his impressive start to life in Italy by once again catching the eye with 12 goals and four assists from 28 outings across all competitions this season (transfermarkt).

The North Londoners recently did transfer business with Genoa back in January when they signed central defender Radu Dragusin to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s defensive options in the Tottenham first-team squad.

Tottenham are frontrunners for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson

NapoliCalcio24 reported last month that Tottenham have an advantage in their interest in the attacking midfielder due to their relationship with his representatives.

The report claims that Tottenham are leading from their front with interest from English clubs and ‘would be ready’ to satisfy Genona’s demands for the player.

Gudmundsson has done well in Italy so far with a respectable goal rate in what is a very tough league defensively.

Tottenham are being linked with a host of exciting attacking talent in recent times including Wolves’ Pedro Neto and Spanish international Nico Williams; if we are to compete on multiple fronts next season there definitely is a requirement for more quality and depth in the squad.
