Tottenham Hotspur have now been offered the chance to sign a two-time Champions League-winning defender for free this summer.
The free agent market could very much be one that Tottenham Hotspur explore, given the plethora of options set to be available this summer.
Andy Robertson, a player Spurs considered making a move for in the winter window, could be available for free should he not put pen to paper and extend his stay at Liverpool.
Leon Goretzka is also another free agent Tottenham have been linked with, with reports emerging that Spurs considered making a move for him in the winter window.

Tottenham offered chance to sign Antonio Rudiger on free transfer
Fresh reports from TeamTalk now claim that Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign a two-time Champions League winner from Real Madrid.
It is understood that Antonio Rudiger is open to a return to England this summer, and that intermediaries have already started sounding out Premier League clubs about a potential deal for the Real Madrid defender.
With the Spanish giants yet to renew the centre-back’s current contract, it is explained that the German international will be open to taking a lower salary than his current Madrid deal if it means securing a move back to England.
Intermediaries have already made Tottenham, Crystal Palace and West Ham United aware that the defender could be open to returning to London, with the trio informed of the conditions required to complete a free-transfer move.
Spurs must weigh market opportunity as rivals circle
Chelsea have also been contacted about making a move for their former defender, but signing a veteran player over 30 is not something that BlueCo are embracing at this point in their project.
But the Blues are far from the only ones who could land Rudiger as a free agent should he not renew his deal with Real Madrid.
It is also claimed that Saudi Arabia remains an option for the current Madrid man, but with the defender still weighing up his options, Tottenham could try to get ahead of the competition by opening negotiations now, if they decide Rudiger is a player they want for next term.
