Tottenham and Man United scout midfield gem but Inter have £20m upper hand

Tottenham Hotspur are fans of a young midfielder who is turning a lot of heads in Belgian football, but there is one roadblock they need to overcome.

Spurs have already strengthened their midfield department this summer with the signing of Conor Gallagher.

However, reports over the last few weeks have suggested that the Lilywhites could look to add another central midfielder to their squad.

With Rodrigo Bentancur out with a long-term injury, it has now emerged that the North Londoners are turning to a number six, who is impressing for Club Brugge this season.

Tottenham eyeing Aleksandar Stankovic but Inter Milan will have final say

Journalist Matteo Moretto has now revealed that Club Brugge’s Aleksandar Stankovic has been scouted by several Premier League teams, including Spurs and Man United.

The 20-year-old, who is the son of Serbian legend Dejan, joined the Belgian side from Inter Milan just last summer, and it is revealed that the Nerazzurri will have the final say as they have a buy-back clause for the youngster.

Moretto said on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel: “Many English clubs have gone to watch him and scout him live – Tottenham, Manchester United, lots of teams.

“But Inter are continuing to follow Stankovic’s development, and they’re staying very calm. Why? Because they have the option to bring him back home either in summer 2026 (July 2026) by paying €23 million, or in July 2027 by paying €25 million. So basically, in the end, it’s all in Inter’s hands.”

Spurs warned against landing Stankovic

This is not the first time the 20-year-old is being linked with a move to N17, with reports emerging a couple of months ago that Tottenham are battling Newcastle United for Stankovic’s signature.

However, European football expert Andy Brassell has suggested that Stankovic will not improve Thomas Frank’s side at the moment.

One can understand where Brassel is coming from, with Frank not short of options in midfield following Gallagher’s arrival.
