Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the race for yet another exciting Brazilian talent, but face stiff competition as three other Premier League sides show interest.

Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters and readers of Spurs Web will remember the club’s persistent links with then highly-rated Brazilian sensation Rayan Viktor.

The versatile young winger was turning heads at Vasco da Gama, and Tottenham were among the clubs keen on securing his signature ahead of the winter window.

However, Spurs missed out to Bournemouth in January, and Viktor has already started settling into life in the Premier League, scoring four goals and registering two assists.

The feeling so far is that Tottenham missed out on a promising talent who now has a huge £86m release clause and interest from Liverpool.

Tottenham join Newcastle race for Danilo transfer

Fresh reports have once again linked Tottenham with another exciting Brazilian talent. This time, it is 24-year-old midfielder Danilo, who has enjoyed a standout campaign with Botafogo and is reportedly in Brazil’s plans ahead of the World Cup.

It is now understood that Tottenham are among the latest Premier League clubs to show interest in the midfielder ahead of the summer window.

The report comes from a local Brazilian journalist who confirmed Spurs’ interest in Danilo. Fulham, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also in the race, with ESPN backing up those claims and highlighting the level of competition Tottenham face.

Fulham are reportedly the first side to make a move for Danilo, while Manchester United view the 24-year-old as a potential replacement for Casemiro.

Newcastle are understood to have the financial strength to complete a deal, while Spurs remain interested, although their pursuit is not believed to be as advanced.

Spurs face £34m hurdle in Danilo pursuit

Danilo is certainly no stranger to the Premier League after previously spending time with Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder made 62 appearances for Forest, scoring six goals and registering four assists. It is understood that he is keen on a Premier League return as he looks to prove a point.

In terms of pricing, the midfielder will not come cheap, with Botafogo aiming for a fee of around £34m (€40m) and not intending to begin talks until after the World Cup.

The Brazilian club believe Danilo’s value could rise further should he feature for Brazil at the tournament, an approach which naturally delays any immediate deal and increases the chances of more clubs entering the race.
