Tottenham have officially announced that Troy Parrott has signed a new contract until 2025 and will now go out on loan to Preston North End for the 2022/23 season.
It was reported by publications this morning that Parrott was set to undergo a medical with Preston on Monday ahead of a season-long loan move (Football Insider and Football London).
The likes of Middlesbrough, Sunderland and QPR also showed interest in the Republic of Ireland international (Daily Mail), but Preston won the race.
Parrott enjoyed a fruitful spell on loan with MK Dons last season, scoring eight goals and laying on seven (Transfermarkt) as they reached the League One play-offs
He has spent his summer with the Spurs squad for their pre-season preparations and was part of the squad which travelled on a tour of South Korea.
However, there was no place for him in Antonio Conte’s squad for the 2-1 win at Rangers on Saturday, indicating a likely move away was in the pipeline (Football.London).
Spurs Web Opinion
There is so much competition up front for Tottenham this season so there won’t be many opportunities where Parrott will have much game time. A loan to a Championship side is sensible and hopefully he will be able to nail down a regular starting role in what is a tough division.
