Tottenham announce 21-year-old has left the club after two years in N17

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Marcel Lavinier has left the club following the conclusion of his contract, and the 21-year-old will now join Swindon Town.

This comes just two years after Lavinier joined the North London club, and he clocked up 43 appearances for the Spurs development squad, as well as one senior appearance in the Europa League (Tottenham).

It was reported this summer that Lavinier rejected a new contract offered to him by Spurs, although it was said his current deal was expected to run until June 2023 (Football Insider).

It was said that Tottenham remained hopeful of convincing the youngster to put pen to paper on a new deal, but they were clearly unsuccessful in that pursuit.

Football Insider also reported that Lavinier was cast out from Tottenham’s youth squad due to his contract disputes at the start of this season.

Spurs Web Opinion:

We would like to wish Marcel all the best of luck at Swindon. It’s always a shame when things don’t work out for academy youngsters, but hopefully he enjoyed his time at Spurs.
