Tottenham announce 24-year-old has joined English side on a six-month loan

Japhet Tanganga will be looking to put his disastrous loan spell at Augsburg behind him as he embarks on a new adventure with Millwall, joining the Championship side on loan until the end of the season.

With injury issues hampering his progress at Tottenham Hotspur, Japhet Tanganga was given the chance to prove himself by joining Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg on a season-long loan. However, injuries continued to plague the 24-year-old throughout his stay in Germany.

Despite recovering from his injury in November, Tanganga failed to make a single appearance for Augsburg, and only made the bench once in his entire time with the club (Transfermarkt).

With this in mind, it came as no surprise when a report from The Athletic revealed Spurs would be exercising their right to recall Tanganga this month. The defender remains outside of Ange Postecoglou‘s plans, however, and Fabrizio Romano suggested Tanganga would be loaned out to a Championship side.

Japhet Tanganga officially joins Millwall

News of Tanganga’s next destination first broke thanks to London News Online, who revealed on Wednesday evening that the Spurs man would be heading to Millwall until the end of the season. It was expected Tanganga would link up with the club for training immediately.

Now, Tottenham have officially confirmed that Tanganga has indeed moved to Millwall for the remainder of the current campaign.

We wish Japhet all the best for this move, and expect he will be given ample game time to show what he is capable of. Here’s hoping he can stay fit, prove himself at Millwall, and secure a decent permanent transfer away from Spurs in the summer.
