Tottenham sign Wilson Odobert

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of Wilson Odobert from Burnley, subject to formalities, despite there being no rumours or links to the 19-year-old at all this summer.

Odobert has signed a contract until 2029 with the North London club and has been handed the squad number 28 – which would imply he is set to be a member of the first-team squad, rather than going back out on loan.

Burnley also announced the deal on social media, revealing that Odobert has joined Tottenham for an ‘undisclosed fee’.

The winger made 29 appearances for Burnley last season and recorded three goals and three assists for The Clarets.

Who is Wilson Odobert?

Wilson Odobert started his youth career in the Paris Saint-Germain academy before joining Troyes in 2022, scoring four goals in 32 appearances for the club.

This earned him a move to Burnley and a goal for The Clarets against Chelsea made him the club’s youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri was the only journalist to report that Odobert was about to join Spurs this morning before the Lilywhites announced the deal out of nowhere.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Going from Pedro Neto to Wilson Odobert seems like a bit of a step down but at least Tottenham are once again investing in the future.

Odobert will have fierce competition for minutes with the likes of Son, Kulusevski, Johnson, Werner and even Mikey Moore on the wings.
