Tottenham announce they will play a London derby in Australia this year

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they will play a friendly against West Ham United in Perth, Australia before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The North London club’s full focus for the moment will be on securing a top-four spot this season, with just ten league games left.

The Lilywhites will finish their campaign with a clash at Elland Road against Leeds United on May 28.

However, the players already know one of their early pre-season fixtures for the 2023/24 campaign as the club confirmed that they will be heading to Australia for a London derby.

The Lilywhites are set to take on the Hammers on Tuesday 18 July, with the kick-off time yet to be confirmed.

The match will be held in Perth’s Optus Stadium, which has a capacity of 61,266 and is primarily used for Australian rules football and cricket.

Tottenham confirmed that the aforementioned game is just the first of three matches that they will be playing as part of their Asia-Pacific Tour 2023, with the details of the other two games in two Asian cities to be announced soon.

This is obviously great for Spurs fans who live in the Asia-Pacific region and is beneficial for the club for commercial reasons.

It was assumed by some that Spurs would be heading to the USA summer, however it looks as if they are instead targeting the lucrative Asian market.
