Tottenham brushed Crystal Palace aside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, in what was a real statement performance by Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
The home side came didn’t come into the game in great form, having made a slow start to the campaign, with just one win from their first four matches.
Roy Hodgson’s men, on the other hand, came into the game sitting in 4th spot in the Premier League table, and with just two goals concerned so far this season.
However, Tottenham started the game in electric fashioned and pinned the visitors back right from kick off.
Pochettino’s men played some absolute champagne football in the first half, pressing high up the pitch and cutting through the Eagles defence at will when they had possession.
Spurs were rewarded with four goals for their efforts before half time and that’s how the scores stayed until the end as the Llilywhites took their foot off the pedal in the second half.
Some Spurs fans on social media were overjoyed to see Pochettino once again adopt a high press tactic and the performance was reminiscent of some of the home games during the 16/17 season when Tottenham put teams away with consummate ease at White Hart Lane.

Finishing home games against bottom half teams before half time is that 2017 vibe I’ve missed so badly.

That first half was a delightful watch. Back to winning ways in emphatic style. Quite clear we saved our energy levels in the second half for Olympiacos. Hopefully this is the game we look back on at the end of the season where we really clicked into form. #COYS

Spurs Web Opinion
Let’s hope that the change in tactics is indeed here to stay. While the team has shown that they are tactically versatile, counter-attacking football might be effective against the better sides but in home games against mid-table teams, the Lilywhites will have to press high up the pitch and win the ball back like they did against Palace.
