Tottenham Hotspur have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Napoli midfielder Antonio Vergara, who is becoming the subject of a major transfer battle.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are working on signing at least one midfielder this summer as Roberto De Zerbi puts his imprint on the Tottenham squad ahead of his first full season in charge.

Spurs reportedly failed with a move for Vergara during the January window, and it appears that the Lilywhites’ interest in the Napoli attacking midfielder has not gone away

A new update from Italy has now handed the North Londoners a huge boost in their rumoured pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Tottenham ones to keep an eye on as Napoli’s Antonio Vergara stance revealed

CalcioNapoli24 has now revealed that Como have expressed an interest in the Italy international, whose future at Naples is far from secure.

The report says that Napoli are still contemplating what to do with Vergara and are open to selling him if they receive big offers.

Como have been joined in the race for the attacking midfielder by Inter Milan, AS Roma and Atalanta, with the list of his admirers continuing to grow.

However, the report adds that the ‘foreign options’ are worth keeping an eye on in the race for Vergara, namely Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham, who are looking to take the youngster to the Premier League.

How much do Spurs have to pay to land Vergara?

CalcioNapoli24 also relay another recent update from Il Mattino, who provide their own information on the race for Vergara’s future.

The outlet states that Napoli do not consider the youngster to be unsellable and are ready to part ways with him for €30m (£26m), which would go down as pure profit in the club’s books since he came through their academy.

The report adds that Como have also already made contact with Vergara’s agent Mario Giuffredi regarding a switch to the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium this summer.
