Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Marco Silva and has explained why the Lilywhites might not find it straightforward to appoint the Fulham boss this summer.
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Andoni Iraola is Tottenham’s top managerial target ahead of the summer.
However, it would appear that the Lilywhites are also making contingency plans in the event they fail to get the Bournemouth boss.
A number of outlets have claimed that Spurs could turn to Marco Silva if they cannot get Iraola through the door, with the Portuguese coach thought to have many admirers at the North London club.

Tottenham expected to face competition for Marco Silva
In a fresh update, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed to GiveMeSport that Silva is indeed on Spurs’ managerial shortlist.
He revealed that the Lilywhites are currently monitoring the 47-year-old’s situation, but they are not the only club in the race to appoint him.
While Romano does not say which other club want to appoint Silva, he makes it clear that Tottenham have not yet made a final decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou, with the club still waiting to see if they can win the Europa League.
Daniel Levy warned about dealing with Marco Silva
Amidst the reports linking the Fulham boss with a move to Tottenham, Troy Deeney issued a warning to Daniel Levy about appointing Marco Silva.
The pundit insisted that the former Watford and Everton boss is a straight talker, who will not shy away from telling it as it is to the Spurs hierarchy.
Deeny said: “I obviously worked with Marco Silva. He won’t play nice with you, he’ll tell the ownership exactly what he wants. He’ll demand an expectation.
“Will they allow for that? I don’t think so. So there’s a lot going on at Spurs, for as nice as it is, the training ground and the facilities, what’s the expectation? And once we know that, then we can grow.”
