Tottenham are not happy with Atletico Madrid and could seek their revenge

Tottenham Hotspur are far from pleased with how Atletico Madrid have gone about their pursuit of Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur, and the Lilywhites could make the Spanish side pay dearly this summer.

It has been widely reported that Atletico Madrid are targeting a double deal for Romero and Bentancur this summer.

Their pursuit of their centre-back appears to be more advanced, with some outlets stating that Romero is even prepared to agitate in order to complete a move to Atletico.

It turns out that Tottenham Hotspur are not best pleased with how Diego Simeone’s side have pressed forward with their interest in the pair ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spurs could make things difficult for Atletico Madrid

GiveMeSport have now provided an update on the Spanish side’s pursuit of the Spurs duo, explaining that Romero has expressed his willingness to embark on a fresh challenge.

In fact, it is revealed that Tottenham have already started scouring the market for the Argentine’s replacement.

However, the report says that Spurs are not entirely happy that the La Liga giants have decided to make their interest in Romero and Bentancur public.

It is alleged that Tottenham could make Atletico pay by making the negotiations very difficult this summer and by refusing to lower their demands.

Spurs could also seek revenge by launching a counter-raid on Atletico’s Conor Gallagher.

Tottenham hopeful of retaining Rodrigo Bentancur

GiveMeSport explain that Atletico’s interest in both Spurs players is ‘genuine’ and the Lilywhites have already accepted that Romero’s head has been turned.

However, the North London club are a lot more hopeful that Bentancur can be convinced to stay at Hotspur Way, particularly if Ange Postecoglou is replaced this summer.

The Uruguayan has just one year left on his contract and it has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are trying to tie Bentancur down to a new contract.
