‘Tottenham are not interested’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Dutch international

Tottenham Hotspur have no current interest in Barcelona winger Memphis Depay, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian has revealed on Twitter that Spurs are not actively pursuing a move for the former Manchester United player, with Juventus considered to be favourites to secure his signature.

Depay, who is in the last year of his contract with the Catalan giants (transfermarkt) must first come to an agreement to terminate his contract before he is to potentially make the move to the Serie A side where a two-year deal has been discussed.

Depay was linked with a move to the north Londoners earlier in the window with Spanish news outlet Sport reporting in July that Tottenham had tabled an offer to Barcelona for the 28-year-old.

Given Tottenham’s abundance of current attacking talent, it would be hard to envisage how Depay would get regular first-team football with Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevki having been in red-hot form over the past nine months.

A move to Juventus as a free agent and a healthy payday is more suited for Depay, who has had a difficult time at Barcelona. Antonio Conte has mentioned more than once about buying the right type of player to suit the demands of the Premier League and his team, it is not surprising to see that Spurs are not in the market for the Dutchman.
