Tottenham are not interested in signing 6x title-winning midfielder despite reports

A journalist has set the record straight regarding Tottenham’s rumoured interest in an experienced Bayern Munich star.

According to reports, Yves Bissouma’s time at Spurs is expected to come to an end in January, with the Lilywhites ready to cash in on the Mali international.

It appears that the North Londoners want to add an experienced central midfielder to the squad in January to replace the former Brighton man.

Over the last week, several outlets have claimed that Tottenham are keen on bringing Ruben Neves back to the Premier League, and it has been suggested that another big name is also an option for Thomas Frank’s men.

Tottenham will not make a move for Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka

Over the last few days, it has been suggested that Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka had been offered to Tottenham.

When asked about the speculation over Goretzka’s future, Dean Jones told TEAMtalk: “There have been a few stories linking Spurs with Goretzka, and there is something in it.

“The player is keen to explore a move to the Premier League and since Spurs have been sounded out, there have been a few people willing to consider the idea.

“I’m told Thomas Frank is actually one of the interested parties, as he views him as one of the more dependable players they have been offered at a time when they are seriously looking at midfield options for 2026.”

The Bavarian club and the North London side have struck a good relationship over recent years, with Harry Kane and Eric Dier heading to the Bundesliga giants, while Mathys Tel and Joao Palhinha have come in the opposite direction.

However, The Athletic’s Seb Stafford-Bloor has now asserted that Goretzka is not one of the names on Tottenham’s wishlist for January.

Stafford-Bloor simply wrote on X: “Tottenham currently have no interest in Leon Goretzka. Goretzka has six months left on his contract at Bayern Munich, but is focused on the second half of the season.”

Do Spurs need to sign a midfielder?

Even if Bissouma leaves, Frank is not short of options in the middle of the park, with Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray, Joao Palhinha and Lucas Bergvall at his disposal.

Frank has showered Gray with praise for his recent performances, with the Tottenham boss admitting that the teenager has made rapid strides this season.

Adding another central midfielder to the squad may risk slowing down the 19-year-old’s development.
