Tottenham are very excited about highly-rated 19-year-old – Journalist reveals

The Sun’s Tom Barclay has revealed that the people he has spoken to at Tottenham consider Jamie Donley a special talent and are excited about what he could achieve under Ange Postecoglou.

There has been a host of brilliant performers among Tottenham’s Under-21 set-up this season but one can argue that none have impressed more than Donley has.

While the youngster was previously more of a number eight, he has evolved into a second striker this season and has also featured in the number nine role on a few occasions.

The 19-year-old has scored six times and provided 12 assists across all competitions for Wayne Burnett’s side so far this campaign and has regularly trained with the first-team squad.

In fact, the youngster has even made three appearances as a substitute in the Premier League, the latest of which came in the clash against Brentford two weeks ago. That is perhaps a clear indication of how highly Postecoglou values the youngster.

Tottenham are very excited about Jamie Donley

When asked about Donley, Barclay has now told The Tottenham Way Podcast: “Jamie Donley is someone who is just breaking into the first-team at the moment. He came off the bench against Brentford the other day. He’s another one they’re very excited about.

“Speaking to people around the club about it, they are very excited about some of the prospects they’ve got coming through.”

The fact that Postecoglou decided to keep Donley at the club to train with the first team while loaning out Alfie Devine is quite interesting and would suggest that the Australian and his coaching staff are more excited about the former.
