Tottenham attacker outlines major trophy aims for the team next season

Lucas Moura has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to win some silverware next season on the back of a disappointing sixth-place finish this campaign.

While Europa League qualification is no doubt a disappointing outcome for Spurs, considering the expectations at the beginning of the season, the achievement is quite impressive considering how far off the pace the Lilywhites were even a few weeks ago.

Jose Mourinho has already stated his objective to win the Europa League next season (Football.London), and the Spurs boss and his coaching staff were visibly ecstatic to have qualified for the competition when the final whistle blew at Selhurst Park.

Moura is convinced that it is a competition that the Lilywhites can win next year. Speaking to The Express, he said: “Of course we can win the Europa League – it must be a big target for us.

“It’s a very beautiful competition and we’re capable of winning it. I really think we can win it.”

Tottenham have not won a major trophy for over 12 years and Moura insisted that it is something the squad are keen to put right next season.

The Brazilian added: “It is a target to get back in the Champions League – but the main target is to win a trophy.

“We really deserve it, the club and the fans. We have a very good squad and the structure that we need to win.

“So we need to target this – win a trophy and get back to the Champions League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I can understand why some Spurs fans are not all that enthusiastic about the Europa League on the back of four consecutive seasons of Champions League football. However, it is a competition that the club has a tremendous history in and I would absolutely love for us to win it next season.
