Tottenham backed to offer Yves Bissouma plus cash for Ligue 1 midfielder

A former Tottenham scout, who remains well connected at Hotspur Way, has suggested that the Lilywhites could use Yves Bissouma as a makeweight to sign one emerging Ligue 1 starlet.

Yves Bissouma’s fortunes at Spurs have changed for the worse over recent months, with the midfielder now struggling to get into the team on the back of his poor form this season.

Reports over recent weeks have claimed that Ange Postecoglou has grown impatient with Bissouma’s inconsistency, with Spurs considering listening to offers for the player.

It was reported a few days ago that multiple clubs from Ligue 1 have expressed interest in signing Bissouma from Tottenham, with the Mali international thought to be open to returning to France this summer.

Tottenham backed to use Bissouma to sign Lamine Camara

Over recent days, it has emerged that Spurs have been impressed by Monaco’s highly-rated midfielder Lamine Camara, and are plotting a move for the 21-year-old.

Tottenham’s former scout, Bryan King, believes that the Lilywhites could offer Bissouma to the Ligue 1 side as a sweetener to help them push through a deal for Camara.

King told Tottenham News: “There are worse places to go than Monaco for any player. Therefore, Spurs offering Bissouma plus cash for Camara could be an option. Moving from North London to Monaco would be of interest to Bissouma, I think.

“As a result, that could be a feasible bit of business. Spurs would be replacing Bissouma with a player for the future, and it could be an important move for Camara, a step up in his career.”

Spurs may prefer a homegrown option in midfield

There is no doubt that Spurs need reinforcements in the middle of the park this summer, with Bissouma’s time at the club looking destined to come to an end as he nears the final year of his contract.

However, one suspects that Tottenham might go for homegrown options such as Adam Wharton or Angel Gomes in the summer, given their shortage of homegrown players.

Spurs will also be tempted to activate the £21m option to buy Johnny Cardoso, given how well the Real Betis man has done of late.
