Tottenham have set their sights on defensive midfielder Mandela Keita, but they will face intense competition for his services this summer.

Spurs’ midfield has come into its own over the last few weeks, with the likes of Conor Gallagher repaying the faith Roberto De Zerbi has shown in him.

The Tottenham boss has now also made it clear that he wants Joao Palhinha to remain at the club, which means that we may not see wholesale changes to the Lilywhites’ midfield department this summer.

However, Yves Bissouma could be on his way out of Spurs, which means that the club could look to add a number six to their squad this summer.

Tottenham in a three-horse race for Parma star Mandela Keita

Over the last few months, many outlets have claimed that Tottenham have made trips to Italy to scout Mandela Keita this season.

The 23-year-old is establishing a reputation as one of the most consistent defensive midfielders in Serie A, and Parma Today has become the latest outlet to credit Tottenham with an interest in the player.

The report claims that a move to the Premier League could be on the cards for Keita, who is also wanted by Aston Villa.

Additionally, Atalanta have also identified the Belgian international as a possible replacement for Ederson if the Brazilian leaves Bergamo this summer.

It is explained that Parma are not under any financial pressure to sell Keita, but they are expected to evaluate offers that arrive.

How much would Spurs need to pay to land Keita?

It is not just Villa and Spurs who are keen on the midfielder, with Brighton also thought to be fans of the Tottenham midfield target.

Meanwhile, previous reports from Italy have suggested that Napoli are also ready to challenge Spurs for Kieta’s signature.

The same update revealed that since the former Antwerp man’s current deal runs until 2029, it would take at least €25m (£21.7m) to price him away from Parma in the summer.
