Lucas Bergvall is coming into his own at Tottenham

There was plenty of hype around Lucas Bergvall when he arrived at Spurs, with the youngster seen as a generational talent in Sweden. The Tottenham supporters got even more excited by the 18-year-old’s outstanding displays in pre-season.

However, the midfielder found out at the start of the season that the Premier League is a different beast altogether, struggling to initially cope with the intensity and pace of the division.

Ange Postecoglou‘s patience with the 18-year-old is now starting to bear fruit as he has been getting better and better with each outing lately.

Not only is Bergvall establishing himself as a starter in the middle of the park but he is also showing just why he is thought of so highly by many talent spotters across world football.

Lucas Bergvall attracted interest from all over Europe

It has been well documented that Tottenham stole the young midfielder from under Barcelona’s nose, but it turns out that it is not just the Catalan giants who showed interest in the Sweden international.

A fresh report from Fotboll Direkt has claimed that a whole host of clubs across the continent wanted Bergvall, including the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

The report says that as many as 24 different clubs expressed an interest in the midfielder, including Juventus, Atalanta, RB Leipzig, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, AS Monaco, Marseille, FC Midtjylland and Stade Rennais.

However, all of them lost out to Ange Postecoglou‘s side, with the player being convinced by Tottenham’s proposal to him.

Bergvall will be delighted with his decision

A couple of months into the season, Bergvall might have been wondering if he made a mistake by joining Tottenham.

However, he will be delighted with the way things have worked out for him over the last few months, with the teenager now having made 27 appearances already across all competitions.

Given the way he has progressed at Spurs, one would not be surprised if he ends this season as a mainstay in the side and one of the most important players in the squad.
