Tottenham captain gives injury return date

Tottenham and France captain Hugo Lloris missed the shock 2-1 defeat to Watford last weekend through injury, with backup Michel Vorm deputising for the Frenchman.

Lloris has since been away with the France team, to celebrate their Russia World Cup 2018 win this summer, by lifting the trophy in front of fans in his home country.

The keeper is said to be returning to Tottenham today for assessment ahead of the top of the table clash against title rivals Liverpool this weekend.

Lloris is also due to appear in court in the near future, after being charged with drink driving a couple of weeks ago.

However, in more positive news, Lloris hopes to be back for the Liverpool game this weekend.

“I am working hard to get back as quickly as possible,” Lloris told French radio station RMC. “There may be a chance this weekend but we will see how much progress is made during the week.”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that their star man is back between the sticks for what could be a crucial game in their season.

Spurs laid down a marker with a 3-0 win against Man United two weeks ago, but lost a bit of title steam when the suffered a 2-1 defeat to Watford only a week later.

Pochettino and his team are now in need of a big statement to tell the other big six teams that they mean business this season.

Tottenham are due to play Liverpool at Wembley on September 15.
