Tottenham centre-back has more league goals than Bukayo Saka this season

One Tottenham defender is continuing to catch the eye on loan, and he is also proving a major threat in front of goal, having found the back of the net more times than Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.

Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of extremely talented teenagers in their first-team squad at the moment while several others are also showing their quality out on loan.

Prime among those is 17-year-old Luka Vuskovic, who has shown maturity beyond his years at Belgian side Westerlo, having been one of the club’s most consistent performers so far this season.

Vuskovic has declared his bold ambitions of making an impact at Spurs next season, and if he keeps performing as well as he has, Ange Postecoglou might find it difficult to overlook him.

Luka Vuskovic keeps Tottenham fans excited with another goal

Vuskovic is not your ordinary centre-back, with the defender also proving a major threat in the attacking third this season in the Jupiler Pro League.

The on-loan Tottenham man found the back of the net yet again for Westerlo in their 3-1 loss away to Royal Charleroi on Saturday.

It was the teenager’s seventh goal of the season in 25 appearances this season, which is an outstanding ratio for a centre-back, and two more than Bukayo Saka’s goal tally in the Premier League this season.

Vuskovic’s pace and defensive ability will be under the microscope

Having a centre-back who is very effective in attacking set-pieces is undoubtedly a big bonus for any side, but that is not the main criteria they get judged on.

Ultimately, if Vuskovic becomes a first-team player at the Spurs, it will be due to his defensive ability, and the jury is still out on whether he will be a good fit for the Lilywhites’ backline.

Ange Postecoglou’s system is reliant on having centre-backs with a recovery pace, which is not the 17-year-old’s strong suit, but the youngster may develop into a complete defender in the years to come as he is still extremely young.
