Tottenham coach wants Mourinho to make move for Frenchman

According to French news outlet La Voix du Nord, Tottenham goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos is continuing to make the case to Jose Mourinho that the club should move for Lille shot-stopper, Mike Maignan.

Maignan, who worked with Santos during his time at Lille has been in fantastic form between the sticks for the Ligue 1 side over the past few seasons.

Previous reports have indicated that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the 24-year-old and views him as Hugo Lloris’ long-term successor as Tottenham’s number one (Le10Sport).

The North Londoners are said to have made the Lille star one of their transfer priorities this summer Tuttosport (via Tribal Football).

La Voix du Nord now claim that the shot-stopper has made his mind up to leave the Stade Pierre Mauroy this summer in search of a new challenge.

It is said that the Frenchman is ready to follow the same path as his compatriot Lloris, by swapping Ligue 1 for North London.

It is a positive sign that Jose and his coaching staff are already examining potential long-term replacements for Lloris as it shows that they are planning for the long-term.

However, I believe Hugo has at least a couple of more seasons left in him at the top level, and so I do not view signing a first-choice goalkeeper as a priority for us this summer.
