Tottenham confirm 22-year-old has left on loan

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that forward Shilow Tracey has joined Cambridge United on loan until the end of the season.

The versatile forward, who can play through the middle or in either flank, spent the second half of last season on loan at Macclesfield Town but could not prevent the club from being relegated from League Two.

Tracey then joined Shrewsbury in the summer and showed glimpses of his quality at New Meadow, even managing to net a hat-trick against Crewe Alexandria in the EFL Trophy back in November.

The 22-year-old will now have an opportunity to impress at Cambridge, who are sitting at the top of the League Two table at the moment.

He will join Tottenham defender Jubril Okedina, who also completed a move to Abbey Stadium earlier this month.

Spurs have a good relationship with Cambridge, with Jack Roles also spending last season on loan at the club.

After agreeing to a temporary deal for Tracey, the League Two side took to social media to joke about their relationship with Tottenham.

Tracey has not managed to live up to the potential he showed in the Under-18s a few years ago. At 22 years of age, the forward needs to show his quality at Cambridge if he is to get a decent transfer in the summer.
