Tottenham confirm 23-year-old has signed new contract

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that goalkeeper Brandon Austin has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2024.

Austin spent part of last season on loan at MLS outfit Orlando City to compete as the backup and replacement for starting keeper Pedro Gallese, who missed a number of games last summer while representing Peru in the Copa America and went on to make five appearances (transfermarkt).

The 23-year-old has also spent time with Danish side Viborg FF as he continues to get first-team experience between the posts.

This season, Austin has primarily been Tottenham’s third choice goalkeeper and is present with Antonio Conte’s side on match days to provide cover for Hugo Lloris and Pierluigi Gollini.

Fellow academy graduate goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman rejoined Degerfors IF in February on loan for the duration of the 2022 Swedish season.

With Gollini likely to return to Italy at the end of the season when his loan deal expires, it would not be surprising to see the club look to recruit another understudy for Lloris who has some first-team experience rather than look to promote Austin to the role.
