Tottenham confirm 24-year-old defender has joined until 2027

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Cristian Romero has completed his move from Atalanta on a permanent basis.

The Argentine defender has been a big hit in north London since moving from the Serie A side on loan last summer where a £42.5million fee and a five-year contract had already been agreed with the player (Football.London).

Romero arrived at Tottenham on the back of being named the ‘Best Defender’ in the Italian top flight.

The 24-year-old has missed Tottenham’s last two matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest with an adductor injury, with Antonio Conte revealing the defender had returned to first-team training on Monday (Spurs official).

Romero has already proven himself to be one of the best defenders in the Premier League and certainly has the potential to be one of the best in the world for many years should he continue to put in the performances he has since joining.

Credit has to go to Fabio Paratici for landing Romero for what has proven to be a bargain £42.5million in today’s inflated transfer market.
