Tottenham confirm 34-year-old has left the club

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Joe Hart has completed his move to Celtic.

The 34-year-old moved to North London while Jose Mourinho was in charge, having joined on a free transfer after his contract at Burnley came to an end.

Celtic revealed that Hart has signed a three-year contract with the Scottish side.

Hart was the understudy to Hugo Lloris last season following the departure of Paulo Gazzaniga and failed to make a Premier League appearance during his time with the club, with his ten outings coming in the Europa League and FA Cup (transfermarkt).

The former England international was reportedly informed that he was not in the plans for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side for the upcoming campaign, with Spurs having moved to bring in Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal with the option to buy (Football.London).

Hart was said to have been a popular figure in the Tottenham dressing room and a source of advice for the younger members of the squad, but was never considered as a successor for Hugo Lloris (The Athletic).

Having been informed of his position at the club, with under a year to run on his contract, Hart now finds himself playing his football in the Scottish Premier League at Celtic, who crashed out of the Champions League at the second qualifying stage last night to Danish side FC Midtjylland.

Hart is now in the latter stages of his career, while Spurs have 26-year-old Gollini, who will hopefully prove when given the opportunity this season that he is the answer to Tottenham’s issue of who will replace Lloris.
