Tottenham confirm Antonio Conte as the club’s new head coach

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club’s new head coach.

The 52-year-old replaces Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked on Monday morning on the back of Saturday’s disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United.

The Italian has been out of work since departing Inter Milan by mutual consent in May amid a reported dispute with the club’s owners over financial constraints having been tasked with potentially selling players worth up to £70m during the summer transfer window (Sky Sports).

Conte has previous experience of managing in England, having won the Premier League and FA Cup at Chelsea but was dismissed in July 2018 after a disappointing second year in charge.

Conte is a proven winner who can hopefully help the North Londoners to get their season back on track and take the final step to win a trophy.

He is a charismatic leader who can impose his will on the Spurs dressing room, something which has been desperately lacking in recent months.
