Tottenham confirm Dane Scarlett has secured season-long loan move

Tottenham have confirmed young striker Dane Scarlett has joined League One side Portsmouth on a season-long loan.

Pompey have closed in on a deal to bring the talented 18-year-old to Fratton Park after holding talks with Spurs on Wednesday (Neil Allen).

Scarlett’s switch will serve as his first move away from Spurs after making this breakthrough to the senior team two years ago.

He penned a new four-year contract in May (The Athletic) and has made 10 first-team appearances for the club, although he is still waiting to net his first Spurs goal (Transfermarkt).

Scarlett has also represented England across all youth levels and played a part of the Under-19 side that won the European Championship earlier this summer.

This is a great move for Scarlett and it should give him plenty of opportunities to get out on the pitch in a senior, first-team environment.

He may have to work his way into Portsmouth team at first considering he is still quite raw but this loan still has the potential to go some way towards helping his development.
