Tottenham confirm departure of 20-year-old on permanent deal

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that young forward Kion Etete has completed a permanent move to Cardiff City.

Etete joined the north Londoners from Notts County in the summer of 2019 and was only handed his first loan at the start of last season, having headed out to League Two side Northampton Town and signed a new deal at Spurs until the summer of 2023.

Spurs recalled the 20-year-old in January and sent him to Cheltenham Town for the remainder of the campaign, where he scored three goals in thirteen League One outings (transfermarkt).

Etete did not feature for Antonio Conte’s side in any of the club’s senior pre-season fixtures and was instead involved with the Under-21’s.

Etete has plenty of potential but unfortunately for the striker, he has found himself behind Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett in the pecking order when it comes to academy talent who are looking to break into Antonio Conte’s plans in the future.

Having played at both League Two and League One levels, he now has the opportunity to try to make a name for himself in the Championship with the Bluebirds, who have been lacking a target man since the departure of Kieffer Moore to Bournemouth in January.
