Tottenham confirm exit of midfielder on season-long loan deal

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Tanguy Ndombele has joined Napoli on a season-long loan deal.

The Times reported on Thursday that the Serie A outfit will pay an upfront loan fee of £1million and also have the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for £25million.

Ndombele joined Tottenham from Lyon in 2019 for a club-record £54million transfer fee but has failed to live up to the expectation.

The 25-year-old was sent out on loan to Lyon in the second half of last season soon after the arrival of Antonio Conte, with his former side deciding against taking up the option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Ndombele can set the world alight during his stint in Italy to allow the club to at least claw back around £25million which still represents a significant loss on the fee they initially paid.

Ndombele has so much promise and talent, unfortunately, his work rate on the pitch does not match and this alone makes him surplus to requirements in north London, at least while Conte is in charge.
