Tottenham confirm first signing of January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they have signed Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Dutch international was heavily linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Everton and even underwent a medical and completed media duties with the Toffees before Tottenham intervened on Tuesday which saw him leave Merseyside and head for Hotspur Way instead (The Times).

Danjuma had arrived in the UK earlier this month to hold talks with Premier League clubs about a loan move away from Villarreal with former side Bournemouth also said to have keen to take him back to the south coast (The Athletic).

He joined Villarreal from Bournemouth for £21.3million in 2021 and in his first season with the La Liga outfit, scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 34 games across all competitions (transfermarkt).

He has scored six goals in 17 appearances so far for the Yellow Submarine this season.
