Tottenham Hotspur have today confirmed that Sergio Reguilon has left the club to join Brentford on loan until the end of the season.
Reguilon appears to have little chance of a future at Spurs, and will now have spent the last two seasons out on loan at other clubs.
A disappointing stint with Atletico Madrid was marred by injury last term. In the first half of the current campaign, Reguilon provided cover for Manchester United during their injury crisis, and performed fairly well for the Red Devils.
However, that agreement came to an end at the start of this year, with Reguilon returning to North London. The Spaniard was widely expected to move on again this month, though, with Brentford known to be keen on signing the left-back (L’Equipe).
Fabrizio Romano provided a couple of updates recently, suggesting an agreement with Brentford was in the ‘final stages’ of being completed, and claiming an announcement on the deal was ‘almost there’ on Tuesday evening.

Sergio Reguilon joins Brentford on loan
Now, it has been confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur that Reguilon will depart Ange Postecoglou‘s squad until the end of the season for a temporary switch to Premier League side Brentford.
The player’s wages will be paid by XXXX for the duration of the loan spell.
Brentford will have the option to purchase Reguilon for £XXXX if they wish to make the transfer a permanent switch.
By the time the loan spell comes to an end in the summer, Reguilon will have just 12 months left on his current contract.
Spurs Web Opinion
We wish Sergio Reguilon all the best, and really hope he can prove himself at Brentford and secure a permanent move away from Spurs. He clearly has no role to play in Postecoglou’s squad, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have what it takes to play at a good level in the Premier League.
