Tottenham confirm second loan departure of the day

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Harry Winks has joined Sampdoria on a season long loan deal.

The 26-year-old has been out of favour under Antonio Conte having been left out of the club’s pre-season plans and the first four games of the new campaign.

The England international has been training on his own away from the rest of the Italian’s first team and was reported to have wanted to remain in the Premier League over a move to Serie A (Evening Standard).

He made just nineteen Premier League appearances last season, of which only nine came in the starting eleven and has fallen further down the pecking order following the arrivals of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma (transfermarkt).

Earlier today, Sergio Reguilon sealed a loan switch to Atletico Madrid for the remainder of the campaign.

A move to Italy may not have been Winks’ first preference, however, it does give him the opportunity to knuckle down and try to get his career back on track away from the mainstream media.

It has been a remarkable fall from grace from the youngster who dazzled at the Bernabeu to a player who has lost all of his confidence.
