Tottenham confuse fans with a big Harry Kane mistake on their website

If you are a Spurs fan praying for Harry Kane to come back home and rejoin the club, the Tottenham Hotspur website has made a mistake that will break your heart.

Harry Kane rejoins Tottenham… sort of

Kane left his boyhood club last summer in a bumper move to Bayern Munich, leaving behind a huge legacy in North London as Tottenham‘s all-time leading goalscorer.

The striker returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend for the first time since leaving, to take part in a friendly between his past and present club.

Now, judging by the Spurs website, it would appear Kane has rejoined the Lilywhites, and he’s taking the number 10 shirt from James Maddison. The 31-year-old is among the squad list on the website, wearing the 2022/23 kit – and the error was shared all over social media.

If you were to scroll further down the page, Eric Dier is still listed as a Tottenham player, too. The defender’s contract expired earlier this summer and he has joined Bayern Munich permanently.

The mistake has been fixed now. However, it seems the squad list needs an update, as the majority of players are still wearing last season’s kit, and it doesn’t include Dominic Solanke yet.

What Kane said about Spurs return

Kane only played just over ten minutes of the friendly last weekend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he was the star attraction nonetheless.

Speaking after the game (via Sky Sports), Kane explained how much he appreciated getting to see the fans again and praised the reception he got from the crowd.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think we will see Harry Kane back at Spurs one day. The club clearly means so much to him, and he will no doubt want to get back in the Premier League at some point to claim the goalscoring record. Fingers crossed he gets his swansong with Spurs.
