Tottenham consider replacing Thomas Frank with a manager from Portuguese league

Tottenham Hotspur have added a new manager to their shortlist as they scour Europe for Thomas Frank’s potential replacement.

While the current Spurs boss has earned himself some reprieve with the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, Thomas Frank is not out of the woods just yet, with the Lilywhites still keeping their options open.

The likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner are thought to be on Tottenham’s radar, while the North London club are also assessing a couple of big-name Spaniards.

We have heard over recent days that Spurs have explored moves for Xabi Alonso and Xavi Hernandez, and another name has now reportedly been added to their wishlist.

Tottenham eyeing move for Porto manager Francesco Farioli

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs have now placed Francesco Farioli on their managerial shortlist as they consider parting ways with Frank.

Despite being only 36 years of age, Farioli has vast experience in the game, having been in charge of Alanyaspor, Fatih Karagumruk, and Nice in the past, and he is now doing an exceptional job at Porto.

The Italian has got the Portuguese club playing a high-pressing, entertaining brand of football, and boasts of an incredible 86.21 win percentage record.

In fact, he has guided Porto to 17 wins and one draw from their 18 league matches this season, and his exploits at the Estadio Dragao have caught the attention of Spurs.

It is revealed that Farioli was also considered by Tottenham before they hired Frank in the summer, and he has now once again become an option for the club seven months on.

Spurs face competition from two Premier League clubs for Farioli

However, Tottenham are not Farioli’s only admirers, with the former Nice boss also on the radar of two other Premier League sides.

TEAMtalk reveal that Bournemouth have identified the Italian coach as a potential replacement for Andoni Iraola if the Spaniard departs in the summer, with the Cherries viewing the Porto manager as an ‘ideal fit’.

Additionally, Crystal Palace are also monitoring Farioli’s situation closely amidst the uncertainty over Oliver Glasner’s future at Selhurst Park.
