Tottenham Hotspur are not expected to push ahead with a move for a 23-year-old midfielder this transfer window after signing Conor Gallagher.
It has been widely reported over the last week that Gallagher may not be the only midfielder to arrive through the door this month at Spurs.
Tottenham are thought to be exploring adding a creative passer to the middle of the park, and one Championship starlet has reportedly caught their eye.
Over recent days, some sources have claimed that Hayden Hackney continues to be on Spurs’ radar, but there has now been a fresh update regarding the Lilywhites’ pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Tottenham’s interest in Hayden Hackney has cooled for now
CaughtOffside has now confirmed that Spurs are among the Premier League clubs who have explored a move for the Middlesbrough midfielder.
However, the Lilywhites’ interest in Hackney is thought to have cooled after they reinforced their midfield through the signing of Gallagher.
The report says that Boro have been unwavering in their stance that it would take a £30m offer to prise their star man away from the Riverside Stadium.
However, Tottenham are not expected to pay that fee this window, with the club pausing their pursuit as their priorities are shifting after the addition of Gallagher to their squad.
Middlesbrough do not expect Hackey to leave this month
Tottenham may yet have a chance to revisit a deal for the England U21 international in the summer.
This is because the Championship promotion hopefuls do not expect any club to meet their valuation of Hacknet during the current transfer window.
This is despite Man United’s admiration for the midfielder and the fact that Everton, Brighton and Fulham are continuing to monitor the Boro man.
